用法

recently は過去時制の文でも現在完了時制の文ででも, 肯定・否定・疑問の場合に関係なく用いることができる. 一方 lately は現在完了時制の文だけで, 主に疑問文, 否定文で用いられるが, only, much, a lot などと一緒の時には肯定文でも用いることができる.

用例

最近彼女にお会いですか. Have you seen her lately [recently]?｜Did you see her recently? 最近いつ彼にお会いでしたか. When did you see him last? 最近彼にちょくちょく会っています. I have seen a lot of him recently [lately]. 最近では 3 か月前に行きました. The last time I went there was three months ago. 最近ではそれは珍しくない. It isn't uncommon these days. つい最近ですよ, うちの子が歩けるようになったのは. It's only recently [lately] that my boy has begun walking.
