語源
Middle English stunien, stonien, stounien from 古期英語 stunian "to make a loud sound, crash; to strike or impinge with a loud noise, knock" from Proto-Germanic *stunjanan (“to sound, crash, bang”) from PGmc base *stinanan (“to moan, shout”) from Proto-Indo-European *(s)tona-, *(s)tena- (“to thunder, moan”). Akin to Old Norse stynja "to make a noise; to groan", Middle Dutch stonen, stenen "to groan", Middle High German stunen "to stun, hit, bump", Old High German stunōd "a match" (lit. "something you strike"), 古期英語 ġestun "noise, whirlwind", 古期英語 stēnan "to groan". Possibly influenced in some senses by unrelated Middle English astonen, astonyen "to astonish".
