From Middle English body, from 古期英語 bodiġ, bodeġ (body, trunk, chest, torso), from Proto-Germanic *budagan, *budagaz (body; grown). Cognate with Old High German botah (body, trunk), Middle High German botech (body, corpse), Swabian Bottich (body, trunk).
