- This new bleomycin-resistant gene encoding a specific amino acid sequence is obtained by preparing a DNA library (metagenome library) from activated sludge as an environmental sample, binding the physically cleaved DNA to a fosmid vector, screening an Escherichia coli library containing the recombinant fosmid in a bleomycin-containing culture medium, and then separating the gene from the obtained clone.
