- Thad is one of the Kyoto Mechanisms in the Kyoto Protocol. It is a system under which developed countries can obtain Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs) that count toward achievement of their emissions reduction commitment under the protocol in exchange for any emissions reduction or absorption achieved in developing countries as a result of emissions reduction or tree-planting projects they carried out there.
