Chiplun (Marathi: चिपळूण) is a city and a municipal council in Ratnagiri district in the state of Maharashtra, India. Located on the Mumbai–Goa highway (NH-17) in western India. The city is about 320 km south of Mumbai in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. It is an industrial town catering to mostly pharmaceutical and chemical industries. It is a major stop on the Konkan Railway. The name Chiplun means "The abode of Lord Parshurama".
