Cittaviveka, popularly known as Chithurst Buddhist Monastery, is an English monastery in the Thai Forest Tradition of Theravada Buddhism. Established in 1979 by Ajahn Chah and Ajahn Sumedho, it was the founding monastery of the Thai Forest Tradition in the West. Cittaviveka, (a Pali name meaning 'the mind of non-attachment'), is located in Chithurst, West Sussex, in an area of secluded woodland, a short distance from Petersfield.
