From 中期英語 Fulebek, from 古期英語 fūl (“dirty”), definite form fūla + Old Norse bekkr (“stream”). An isolated form Fulebroc attested in 1194 suggests that bekkr may have replaced an original 古期英語 brōc (“brook”) in the second element.
