The Moran Dam, also known as the Moran Canyon Dam, was a proposed dam in Moran Canyon on the Fraser River in British Columbia, Canada. First planned in 1952, the 270-metre (890 ft) high dam would have been located near Lillooet and its resulting reservoir would be about 260 kilometres (160 mi) long, stretching upstream to the confluence with the Quesnel River. The dam would have generated about 13,000 MW of power, and also provided flood control. The proposal was eventually defeated when controversy arose over the harm it would do to the river's salmon run and the ecology of the lower Fraser.
