Padheyam is a 1993 award winning Malayalam film written by A. K. Lohithadas, directed by Bharathan and starring Mammootty in the lead role. The film won several accolades in the state as well as National Film Awards. Mammootty played the role of Chandradas, a poet. Mamooty was nominated for the 1994 National Film Award for Best Actor, for his role, however lost. He was also nominated for the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor. Chippy was introduced through this film.
