Parappurath (real name: K. E. Mathai) (1924–1981) was a famous novelist and short story writer of Kerala, India. He was born on November 14, 1924 in Mavelikkara in Alappuzha district. After highschool education he joined the army in 1944 and served there for 21 years. Naturally most of his subjects and characters were from this background.
