Taijutsu (体術, literally "body technique" or "body skill") is a Japanese term for any combat skill, technique or system of martial art using body movements that are described as an empty-hand combat skill or system. The term is commonly used when referring to a traditional Japanese martial art but can also be used to name a style, such as Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. Popular styles of Taijutsu include Jujutsu, Judo, Aikido and Karate. In relation to Ninjutsu, the Bujinkan states that Taijutsu is one of the eighteen fighting skills that were a part of a total training system described in the scrolls of Togakure-ryū.
