- (mathematics) A particular method of regularization of ill-posed problems, or estimating the coefficients of multiple-regression models in scenarios where the independent variables are highly correlated.

Tikhonov regularization, named for Andrey Tychonoff, is the most commonly used method of regularization of ill-posed problems. In statistics, the method is also known as ridge regression. It is related to the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm for non-linear least-squares problems.
