A calibrated camera is a camera in which each of its subsystems and the camera as a whole have been calibrated before and after use, or before and after each image capture episode. To keep costs low, cameras often use off-the-shelf components with characterized performance. Cameras can contain an optical system, a sensor array, a microprocessor with associated software and firmware, and internal clocks. Some cameras come with a flash.
