The Imidogene radical, HN:, is the neutral form of the imide ion (HN2−). Imidogene radicals are highly reactive and consequently short lived; however, they form an important part of radical chemistry. It is an interesting radical which reacts differently depending on its spin multiplicity, it has a triplet ground state. In sufficiently high concentration, imidogen polymerises to form triazidine that without stablising substituents is in itself only a metastable molecule.
