名詞

vav-consecutive (plural vav-consecutives)

  1. (linguistics) a grammatical feature of Biblical Hebrew and, to a lesser extent, other Northwest Semitic languages, which allows for a verb's aspect or tense to be flipped to its inverse when preceded by the conjunction וְ־ (wə-, and)

使用する際の注意点

The vav-consecutive also often changes the vocalization of the verb, alongside gemination/lenition, and other features. Not every verb preceded by a vav is automatically in the vav-consecutive, the aforementioned phonological changes must also be observed.
