1. A traditional form of art from Catalonia, consisting of a comic-like series of images with text captions, often rhyming couplets.

語源

From avis (“bird”) +‎ -ica (relational suffix), with regular syncope of short /i/. Compare Latin auceps < *awikaps or aucella < avicella.

Attested in Avienius and late glosses.
