Avgofeta (Greek: αυγόφετα—from αυγό (egg) and φέτα (slice; implying slice of bread)) is the Greek version of a simple French toast. It is prepared by dipping thin slices of bread into beaten eggs then frying them in oil or butter. Some times cream or milk is added to the egg mix. Sugar is sprinkled on the cooked slices and in some regions people would add cinnamon as well. White bread is used typically although in some areas raisin bread (σταφιδόψωμο) can be used as well.
