From Ancient Greek Ἡσαῦ (Hēsaû), from Biblical Hebrew עֵשָׂו (ʿĒśāw). As loaned through Greek, the au may be rendered a diphthongs; if more directly from Hebrew, then the a is long and doesn't form a diphthong with the u.
