Patrick Ivuti (born June 30, 1978, Machakos, Kenya) is a Kenyan long distance athlete who currently resides in Nairobi, Kenya. He won the Chicago Marathon held on October 7, 2007 with a time of 2:11:11. The race was a photo finish culmination of a shoulder to shoulder final 300 meter stretch run with Jaouad Gharib down Columbus Drive on a day of record-setting 88 °F (31 °C) temperatures. The duo had pulled away from Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Daniel Njenga at the 22 mile mark. Ivuti had previously placed fifth in the 2005 Chicago Marathon in his marathon debut. This was his second Major Marathon and at least his fourth overall marathon. The race, which was decided by a twentieth of a second, was the closest Chicago Marathon ever.
