Protanystropheus is an extinct genus of tanystropheid archosauromorph which lived during the Triassic of what is now central and western Europe. It was named by Sennikov in 2011 and the type species is Protanystropheus antiquus. P. antiquus was previously referred to as Tanystropheus antiquus, and was first described in 1908 by German paleontologist Friedrich von Huene.
