Raphael Hadane is the Chief Kes (head priest) for the communities of Beta Israel in Ethiopia and Israel. Hadane has argued for the acceptance of the Falasha Mura as Jews. In January 2008, Hadane verified that there were engagements between the Ethiopian community in Israel and the African community of America.
