Stefon is a character on Saturday Night Live, played by Bill Hader, who appears as the City Correspondent for New York City on Weekend Update with Seth Meyers. Seth Meyers introduces Stefon as a knowledgeable guide to New York City, with tips on some essential places for out-of-towners to visit. Stefon's recommendations, however, always run parallel to "visions a dying gay man would have if he was under too many blankets" or "nightmares of a crystal meth addict". Stefon's segments are written by Bill Hader and American comedian and SNL writer John Mulaney. He was inspired by real people Hader and Mulaney had come across. John Mulaney had met somebody who talked like Stefon, describing absurd parties and egging people to go to them, and Bill Hader met a barista at a coffee shop who looked and talked like Stefon. They worked together with these people in mind, and thus, Stefon was born.
