Borrowed from Persian ضرابی (Zarrâbi), "master of the mint", from Persian ضرابخانه (zarrâb-xâne, “mint”), from ضرب (zarb, “minting (of coins)”) +‎ خانه (“house, place”), with the first part from Persian زر (zar, “gold”).
