A distributive dynamo is a dynamo based on local area turbulence within an electrically conductive fluid in motion. Small-scale magnetic fields can be generated in the solar convection zone, for example, by a turbulently driven dynamo. Such a turbulent field does not require rotation, although the generation rate does increase with increasing rotation.
