floating panel (plural floating panels)

1. A construction technique where the panel is set into grooves in the frame, not glued or nailed solid, allowing it to expand and contract with humidity changes.

使用する際の注意点

Often used interchangeably with "raised panel," floating panels are more-so a construction method, while raised panels are design features. A raised panel door may use a floating panel construction, but a flat panel (like a Shaker door) can also use floating panel construction.
