Financial behaviourists state that market valuation breaks away from economic rationales of fundamental data if three conditions are met: firstly, investors behave irrationally in great numbers; secondly, irrational behaviour is not random but systematic; thirdly, rational investors' abilities are constrained in that arbitrage position can correct biases from intrinsic value.
2025 May 1, Hei Kan Lou, Michael G. Pollitt, David Robinson, Angel Vargas Arcos, “The Iberian Exception: what was the cost of distorting electricity markets during the 2021-23 European energy crisis?”, in EPRG Working Paper (Cambridge Working Paper in Economics; 2535), volume 2513, pages 1, 21:
In response to the spike in energy prices causing adverse consequences to Iberian households and businesses, the Spanish government proposed the Iberian Exception (IE) to the European Commission in March 2022 to curb inflation. The proposal was granted by the European Commission in May 2022 and is called an exception as it only applied to the Iberian Peninsula but not to the rest of the European Union (EU). The IE was implemented on 15 June 2022 for one year and extended to the end of 2023. […] The EU regulation No 543/2013 of 14 June 2013 improved transparency and suggested that price and fundamental data, including the day-ahead prices, should be available publicly at the Entsoe portal. We also use the historical data from EpexSpot to quantify the impact of IE.
(figurative, loosely) The figures describing a field of study or field of action that allow further investment or policy implementation.
