1. (zoology) Any member of the Janolidae (synonym of Proctonotidae), a family of sea slugs.
   • 1981, The Veliger, volume 24, page 225:

     A third species of janolid has been collected from San Diego, California and was depicted by Behrens (1980, fig. 152).

   • 1982, Annals of the South African Museum, volume 86, page 40:

     Food abundance does not appear to be a limiting factor as many ectoproct colonies are devoid of janolids.
