Mark J. Carney (born March 16, 1965) is the governor of the Bank of Canada. Appointed on October 4, 2007, Carney began his seven-year term as the Bank's eighth governor on February 1, 2008. At the time of his appointment, Carney was the youngest central bank governor among the G8 and G20 groups of nations.
