First attested in March 2002; formed as procto- ‎(“anus”) +‎ -cracy ‎(“rule”); equivalent to a hypothetical Ancient Greek etymon of the form *πρωκτοκρατία ‎(prōktokratía), from πρωκτός ‎(prōktós, “anus”) + κράτος ‎(krátos, “dominion”, “power”).
