語源

Blend of Scarborough +‎ Barbados, in reference to the beaches. The nickname 'Scarbados' is said to have been first invented by a local chartered surveyor called Rob Brown who, on his 18th birthday celebration in the local Prince of Wales pub on Castle Road, Scarborough began singing Scarbados to the tune of Typically Tropical's song 'Barbados' which hit the charts in June 1975, whereupon the whole pub joined in and the nickname was born.
