1. (US) A man engaged in the raising, breeding, or tending of sheep, especially the owner or operator of a sheep enterprise.

In the American West, sheepman is commonly used for persons engaged in the commercial sheep industry, particularly in contrast with cattlemen. Historical Wyoming sources use sheepman and sheepmen in accounts of the state's sheep industry and conflicts between sheepmen and cattlemen.
