Solrad 3, a spherical satellite like Solrad 1, also called GRAB 3, was launched on June 29, 1961. Solrad 3 failed to separate from Injun 1, below it in the photograph. In spite of the failed separation, Solrad 3 still returned solar X-radiation data until late in 1961. The combined pair moves erratically while in orbit and is not expected to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere for ~900 yrs.
