a substance being studied in the treatment of some types of cancer. it is a combination of tegafur and uracil. the tegafur is taken up by the cancer cells and breaks down into 5-fu, a substance that kills tumor cells. the uracil causes higher amounts of 5-fu to stay inside the cells and kill them. uft is a type of antimetabolite. also called tegafur-uracil, ftorafur, and uftoral.

一部のがんに対する治療の分野で研究されている物質。テガフールとウラシルを組み合わせたものである。テガフールはがん細胞に取り込まれると、そこで分解され、腫瘍細胞を殺傷する作用をもつ5-fuという物質に変化する。さらにウラシルによって、より多くの5-fuが細胞内に停滞して、その細胞を殺傷するようになる。uftは代謝拮抗薬の一種である。「tegafur-uracil（テガフール-ウラシル）」、「ftorafur（フトラフール）」、「uftoral」とも呼ばれる。
