Askold and Dirとは 意味・読み方・使い方

Askold (Haskuldr in Old East Norse and Höskuldr in Old West Norse) and Dir (Dyri in both dialects of Old Norse) are semi-legendary rulers of Kiev who, according to the Primary Chronicle, were two of Rurik's voivodes in 870s. That chronicle implies that they were neither his relatives nor of noble blood. Another Slavic chronicle, Book of Veles, the authenticity of which is still argued, states that over a millennium and a half before Dyr the Schek's clan reached the Carpathian Mountains where was settled for sometime before was driven out back to Dnieper River.
