The Bishop of Stepney is an episcopal title used by a suffragan bishop of the Church of England Diocese of London, in the Province of Canterbury, England. The title takes its name after Stepney, an inner-city district in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The post is currently vacant following the retirement of Stephen Oliver on 6 July 2010. However, Pete Broadbent, Bishop of Willesden has been made additionally Acting Bishop of Stepney effective until 22 July 2011., and, on 22 March 2011, 10, Downing Street announced that Adrian Newman (currently Dean of Rochester) has been nominated to succeed Oliver after his consecration in July.
