The Bates-Hendricks neighborhood is located about a mile south and east of downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. It is bounded on the north by Interstate 70, on the northeast by Interstate 65, on the east by Shelby Street, on the south by Beecher Street, and on the west by Madison Avenue. The Eli Lilly and Company corporate campus lies immediately to the north on the other side of Interstate 70. South East Street runs north and south through the middle of the neighborhood and is the main commercial corridor.
