From Carpathian Rusyn Дї́тко (Djítko), Pannonian Rusyn Дїтко (Djitko) and Ukrainian Ді́тко (Dítko), variants of дї́дко (djídko) and ді́дко (dídko), ultimately from Proto-Slavic *dědъ (“grandfather”).
Ditko (plural Ditkos)
From Russian Ди́тко (Dítko), borrowed from Ukrainian Ди́тко (Dýtko), from ди́тко (dýtko), a southern Ukrainian diminutive of дитя́ (dytjá, “child”) (possibly merged with another diminutive ді́тко (dítko)), ultimately from Proto-Slavic *dětę.
