Hareut (friendship, fellowship, comradeship in English, here esp. brotherhood in arms) is a Hebrew poem written by Haim Gouri and set to music by Sasha Argov. The song was written a year after the outbreak of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War of independence and deals with the remembrance of the Israeli dead in the war over the creation of the country. Ever since is was created, the song has become deeply immersed into Israeli culture, and is often performed during memorial ceremonies.
