引用: Harry Stern was the mayor of Cumberland, Maryland from 1990 to 1992. Before being Mayor of Cumberland. Harry Stern was a engineer until Retirement. Then in 1988 people approached Harry to run for Mayor. As Mayor Harry was a full Mayor and fired the City Administrator for internal reasons on Day 1 and suspended a 1979 City code that permitted a city administrator. As Mayor Harry reduced taxes after his predecessor raised taxes after Kelly Springfield Closed its doors and saw surpluses around near $1 Million. After being mayor his successor continued most of his policies and surpluses Harry Stern went into full time Retirement and remained involved in organisations until his death in 1994. 7 years after his death in 2001 the City remembered his successes and tenure by erecting a plaque in his memory.
