Sir Peter Scott is Vice-Chancellor of Kingston University in Kingston upon Thames in southwest London. He has held that post since 1998 and has announced that he will step down at the end of 2010 to take up a professorship of higher education studies at the Institute of Education, University of London. Previous roles include Pro Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Education at the University of Leeds, director of the Centre for Policy Studies in Education and, from 1976 to 1992, editor of the Times Higher Education Supplement. He studied modern history as an undergraduate at Oxford University.
