Raddon top is reported to have once had an earthwork at its summit, possibly an Iron age Hill fort or enclosure, though it was even supposed to have been ploughed down some centuries ago. Hoskins' 'Devon' from 1954 mentions Thomas Westcote, in his 'A view of Devonshire in MDCXXX' writing of the earthworks being ploughed down in the 16th Century.
