語源

Probably from Pictish/Proto-Brythonic. Per Noble (2026) from an earlier *Rīgonīn or similar. Formed with the element Proto-Celtic *rīxs (“king”) + the suffixes -on (an intensifier) and -in, giving a name meaning "place associated with a great king".
