Sengundram ("red hills") is one of the most densely populated towns in Tamil Nadu. It is situated near Chennai. this name was derived from the red hills (Semman Kuviyal) that was mostly present in this area in early stage. This brought much fame to this place, that is central jail. The celebration for god in Paadianallurs Angaala Parameshwari Temple at the month of March and April also brings great fame to this town.
