Silwan (Arabic: سلوان, Hebrew: כְּפַר הַשִּׁילוֹחַ Kefar ha-Shiloaḥ) is a predominantly Arab village with a sizable Jewish minority adjacent to the Old City of Jerusalem. The village is located in East Jerusalem, an area occupied by Jordan from 1948 until the 1967 Six-day War and by Israel since then, and later annexed into the Jerusalem municipality's borders by Israel. The village is today on both sides of the Kidron Valley and runs alongside the eastern slopes of Jabal al-Mukaber. Silwan has a population of roughly 45,000.
