a drug used to treat advanced renal cell carcinoma (a type of kidney cancer). it is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. torisel blocks a protein involved in cell division, and may kill cancer cells. it is a type of rapamycin analog and a type of serine/threonine kinase inhibitor. also called temsirolimus and cci-779.

進行した腎細胞がん（腎臓のがんの一種）の治療に用いられる薬物。他の種類のがんに対する治療薬としても研究されている。toriselには細胞分裂に関与する蛋白の働きを阻害する作用があり、がん細胞を殺傷できる可能性がある。ラパマイシンアナログの一種であり、セリン/トレオニンキナーゼ阻害薬の一種でもある。「temsirolimus（テムシロリムス）」、「cci-779」とも呼ばれる。
