    1. (emphatic, colloquial, especially Australia, New Zealand and California) Used sarcastically to answer "no" to a question where the negative answer should have been obvious.
    2. (colloquial, chiefly US) A softened negative response to a question or statement that seems plausible but is not factual.
      "Look at those clouds; it might rain." "Yeah, no, the weatherman says it won't rain until at least next week."
    3. (colloquial) An agreement that the answer is negative.
      "I hope you weren't expecting us to finish it this week." "Yeah, no, that's fine — I figured it might not be that quick."
    4. An agreement; the “yeahfunctions as affirmation, while the “nocould be replaced by the phrasedon’t worry.”
