1. (intransitive) To make a lot of percussive noise while moving around.

   She banged around with those tools all night.

2. (transitive) To spend time in a place; to linger.

   After meeting up with Simon, the two of us banged around the neighborhood.

   This issue has been banging around in the popular imagination for a while.

3. (transitive) To beat up, often over time or repeatedly.

   He's been banging her around since they got married.
