1. (furniture) A board firmly attached to the vertical edge of a bench providing a surface to which other objects may be attached.
   • 1884, The Furniture Gazette, volume 21, page 204:

     The bench-cheek will require much care in fitting into the top and must be firmly bolted thereto, the front leg underneath being morticed into it.
