an impartial group that oversees a clinical trial and reviews the results to see if they are acceptable. this group determines if the trial should be changed or closed. also called data and safety monitoring board.

臨床試験を監視し、その結果を容認できるかどうか検討する中立的なグループ。このグループが、臨床試験を変更、あるいは中止すべきかどうか決定する。「data and safety monitoring board（データ安全性モニタリング委員会）」とも呼ばれる。
